Elvis Costello Print – Dan Stiles

elvis_lgIf you’ve been following this blog you know that the halls of Hi-Fi Central are covered with limited edition music prints for the artist we most admire.  One of our favorite artists is this cat named Dan Stiles; his work is smart and hip.  His prints often sell out fast and are printed in a very limited run.

Dan recently released a print for an Elvis Costello show at The Paramount in Seattle, WA; this is a very righteous print and one that we really like.  It’s an edition run of 130 and only $30, WOW!

Check out this print and others just as cool by clicking here, and tell us what you think of his prints.

Obey Print Release part duex –

I’m overwhelmed with the amount of incredible artwork coming out of the Obey camp in the past two weeks.  For the third week in a row pop-artist Shepard Fairey is releaseing a killer series of music inspired prints that are a much larger format that his usual style.

Over the past week he has released 6 massive images that have sold out in “record” time (no pun intended, really), getting one has been strictly luck I’m sure.  This weeks release of three images is no less impressive and in my opinion probably the best thus far.   I would be bummed personally if I bought any of the prints within the last two weeks since these trump those in style and impact.

These prints are expensive, around $500 per print and come in a limited edition of 50 (signed and hand numbered).  I wish I had the scratch to keep up and grab some each week, but looks like the wife has kyboshed any such impulsive urges until I get the remainder of my prints framed.  A bedroom of print tubes I’m sure is the reasoning, and I can’t argue my way out of that.

If you like this print check out the others at www.obeygiant.com the release times of his prints are always random (I’ve found anywhere between  2:00 and 5:00 EST to be the most common), remember, Obey is on the West Coast time.  The release date for these prints is todayMay 5th, good luck!

Print Mafia – Liz Phair Limited Edition Print

The genius duo that make up Print Mafia are at it again and have released a very cool gig poster for indie princess Liz Phair.  I’ve seen Liz Phair several times when I lived in Boston and she always put on a good show; she never seems to hit the Albany, NY area which is a bummer.

I’ve highlighted prints by Print Mafia in past posts and always love the range of images and styles they use in their creations.  This print is signed and numbered, however they don’t post the specific edition size which would be helpful; it costs a mere $20!!!!!

You can check out this print and others by clicking here; and don’t forget to tell us what you think!

print o’ the week #3 – dirk fowler

No pun intented, but this print really caught my “eye” and I felt it was worth mention on the blog for my “print o’ the week” pick.  Dirk Fowler and his wife Carol are based out of Lubbock, Texas where they work as graphic designers; on the side they produce some mighty fine concert prints like this one for the band Deer Tick.

I like what these two are doing with their designs and you will notice that they never seem to stick to one type of pattern, so they really create some vibrant and electric designs that really grab your eye.  Good luck getting any of their Wilco posters, apparently they are quite the item on their site.

The featured print is an edition size of 50 and they only have 20 avialable to sell, so for a mere $25.00 you can grab yerself’ one!

Check out this print and some other great art these guys are creating by clicking here.  And don’t forget to tell us which one is your favorite!

You can read more about this great art medium in my post The “Art” of The Music Business and see other “prints o’ the week” by clicking here and here.

Print o’ the Week #1 – Artists: Print Mafia

I figured I would include a “Print O’ The Week”  post this summer since I have been riding the heels of my April post The Art of The Music Business; I’ve actually received quite a bit of emails about that post and thanks from our readers.

Print Mafia (out of Bowling Green, KY)  has released a few test prints on their website and this one really caught my eye; Hank Williams and KISS?  What absolute brilliance eh? Two iconic styles of music blended into one print, love it!

Print Mafia is offering several versions of these prints and since they are all “tests” no two are alike, so it’s a pretty great opportunity to snatch some great original art.  There are also some very cool Johnny Cash test prints as well.

If you check them out, let us know what you think.  You can see these fantastic prints by clicking here.
