Print o’ the week #6: Artist HERO

This week’s print pick is by Buffalo, NY artist Hero.  I thought this print was very cool for an AC Newman (front man for the band The New Pornographers) show in Ithaca, NY in 2009.

The print is limited to only 110 and is signed and numbered, again, it is a mere $25! What a bargain for a fantastic work of art.  The image measures 16 x 20, so it’s a nice size for framing.

You can check out more of Hero’s prints and artwork by clicking his site here.

Let us know what you think, please!

Print o’ the week #4 – Powerhouse Factories : Revho print

Thought that this was a cool print from artists Powerhouse Factories.  This print they did for a Reverend Horton Heat show in 2006.  Only 2 prints remain out of an edition of 75, so if you want one you’d better hustle.  The print costs about $50, so not bad at all and is 24 x 18.

Powerhouse Factories is more than just a group of artists making gig posters, they seem to also have a strong graphic design service as well.

Regardless, check them out and the many cool prints they offer, sadly most are sold out.  For the Reverend Horton Heat print and many more, click here.

Print o’ the Week #2 – Artist: Dan Stiles

The second installment of my “Print O’ The Week” posts is a print by artist Dan Stiles.  Dan is based out of Portland, Oregon and he comes up with some very cool, clever, and original designs for his prints.  His website is fun and you will find a plethora of band prints to choose from; most are from shows in the Portland area where the bands played.

This print for the band Midlake I thought was eyecatching and very appealing…and hey, it’s a steal!  A limited edition run of 90, signed by Dan and only $24!  I think I might have to grab this one myself this afternoon.

Tell us what you think of the print!

Print o’ the Week #1 – Artists: Print Mafia

I figured I would include a “Print O’ The Week”  post this summer since I have been riding the heels of my April post The Art of The Music Business; I’ve actually received quite a bit of emails about that post and thanks from our readers.

Print Mafia (out of Bowling Green, KY)  has released a few test prints on their website and this one really caught my eye; Hank Williams and KISS?  What absolute brilliance eh? Two iconic styles of music blended into one print, love it!

Print Mafia is offering several versions of these prints and since they are all “tests” no two are alike, so it’s a pretty great opportunity to snatch some great original art.  There are also some very cool Johnny Cash test prints as well.

If you check them out, let us know what you think.  You can see these fantastic prints by clicking here.

Print Mafia – Ltd. Edition KISS Prints

Back in April I posted an article entitled The Art of The Music Business that looked at the cool side of underground and mainstream artists who create limited edition art for the music industry.

Print Mafia is made up of two artists out of Bowling Green, Kentucky who have been creating some very cool and affordable prints since 1997.  Obsessed with vintage images and retro Americana, Print Mafia often comes up with some very cool designs that appeal to broad spectrum of collectors.  Whether its vintage robots, Evel Knievel, KISS, Johnny Cash, Burt Reynolds, even KFC’s Colonel Sanders, they are incorporate the genre into their art prints. Their designs are nothing short of clever and creative. They normally produce limited runs of their prints (usually under 100) and offer them in a price range that is incredibly affordable, thus enabling a newbie or seasoned collector to obtain great art.

Print Mafia just released prints of all four members of the legendary music group KISS and they are very cool.  This run is limited to only 60 prints and right now they are offering all four prints (I would assume with matching numbers) at $90, a steal!  These are silkscreen prints(serigraphs) and are of very good quality, not cheezy flimsy poster prints.

With the newly announced KISS tour for the summer it is the perfect time for the KISS collector or KISS fan to grab some very cool wall art.
